Sonnet to the Sky Sonnet to the Sky

Oh how you cradle us all in your arms,  
The oceans and the land, mountains and hills.  
You smile down at us, flirting with our farms,  
Caressing them all with unearthly skills.  
All too often though grey shadows will swarm,  
And steal from us your calming, loving glow.  
Bringing the rain and thunder, wind and storm,  
To bring back havok to all that you sow;  
But those grey shadows will also bring life,  
As the tears they cry nurture and nourish,  
And drag us all out of struggle and strife,  
Causing our crops to grow strong and flourish.  
         You are our saviour, our friend, our Mother,
